In the nature of a small Company, particularly one requiring inter-related, multi-disciplined activity amongst its personnel, neither rigid job titles nor organisational structure, applies. Equally, it would be unrealistic to assume that a totality of knowledge or expertise in all necessary aspects of the Company's work may be available either in-house, or from a single exterior source. However, in its commitment to continuing development, innovation and excellence, and to maintain its responsiveness to new challenges, the company employs a range of highly qualified engineers and specialists. These embrace the diverse and valuable disciplines of: computer programming and electronic engineering, optical engineering, metallurgical engineering, conservation, CAD operation, mechanical engineering, and construction-industry based skills. Many of Focus International's Key Personnel are employee-members of long standing with the Company (between 10 and 17 years). As such, their credentials are evident, vast experience having been gained from the many and varied projects that have been undertaken to date. |
Given that Fibre Optic Lighting for use in a functional way either for conservation or more general architectural feature and space illumination was only developed by Focus International and other early pioneers in the 1980's, no formal training was available to any of the founding and long-term Principals of the Company in such technology and disciplines. The best 'school' therefore, and the one which yields the highest qualifications in terms of fibre optic lighting skills, is sheer weight of experience and acquirement of competence through the practical exercise and completion of well-executed projects. All new engineers who are recruited into the company are given a rigorous hands-on training involving working both in the production and manufacturing department, and on installation sites, to immerse them thoroughly in the workings of all equipment, its correct handling, and in the company ethos of providing a service of total care and commitment at all times.
